Business was started in 1977 by Jim Harkness selling new and used equipment to which wholesale lines were gradually added.
In September 1982 the company was incorporated as Jim Harkness Equipment Ltd., HARCO Ag Equipment was registered as a trade name of the wholesale division.
HARCO Ag Equipment is located on Highway #9 between Harriston and Clifford, Ontario. 50 miles north of Highway #401, Ontario's main east-west artery. We are 1 1/2 hours northwest of Ontario's largest city Toronto, 1 hour north of major centres Guelph and Kitchener, 3 1/2 hours from Windsor-Detroit and 2 1/2 hours from Sarnia-Port Huron which are our two major border crossing points.
In 2002 a storage and drop off area was established north of Woodstock, Ontario approximately 12 miles from Highway #401. We also have a small drop-off and storage yards in Eastern Ontario, Montreal and Moncton, New Brunswick areas.
The company sells to Farm Equipment, Rental, Turf and other businesses in Ontario with approximately 300 dealers, in Quebec with approximately 120 dealers and with a total of 100+ dealers throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.
Four Territory Sales Managers drive attractive one-ton sales vehicles which present an outstanding company image; their nine-foot platforms carry 'show & tell' and delivery items which can be supplemented by 16-foot trailers when additional space is required. Trucks are also equipped with tow items within legal limited.
